The government -owned telecom company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has started testing 5G infrastructure. Now the operation has started on tower sites in the capitals of Jaipur, Lucknow, Chandigarh, Bhopal, Kolkata, Patna, Hyderabad, Chennai and some other states. Business Standard quoted BSNL officials as saying that most of these sites are 4G sites, which have been installed as part of 1 lakh 4G sites. Let us know about it in detail.

BSNL started 5G testing

The report said that BSNL is planning to start a 5G operation officially within the next three months, but the testing of network infrastructure is currently being done in the telecom circle where BSNL has strong conditions. Base Trenchover stations (BTS) are also starting in many cities like BSNL Kanpur, Pune and Vijayawada.

BSNL has one lakh 4G towers based on domestic technology which will start completely by June 2025. After that these 4G tower will be converted to 5G. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M Scindia was confirmed as it was shared by BSNL. This means that the launch of BSNL 4G and then 5G is just three months away.

According to BSNL’s official X Social Media Account, the company has described April as a customer service month, which is an initiative through which the service feedback is actively working and improves customer experience. BSNL said in a video shared on 31 March 2025 late at night that “big surprises are coming! In this customer service month, we are making your experience better. Stay for more information!”

This initiative improves the quality of mobile network to improve fiber broadband (FTTH) and leased circuit/MPLS, ensure billing transparency and by doing customer greevens resolution, attempts to add customers in rural, urban, enterprises and retail segment.
