This is quite an incicy take on Aamir and I Mostly Agree.
In my opinion, if someone likes to overthink and oveless – it is not an issue giving But, in the cases of selecting toh, lSC or szp – I don’t think such decisions are working for him.
I think your point on his simplistic Tastes is deaper. Aamir’s peak was in the period between 2001-2016. During time, his sensitivity and Black-&-White Views were good enough to be Considered as Experimental Successes by the Indian Audience (Given the State of Other Commercial Films in India).
But now, the world has changed. Especially after covid. Streaming has exposed the ‘elite‘Audience of Indian Cinema to Modern Forms of Storylling, where morality itself is a complex domain.
In such a Scenario, one-dimensional takes like LSC/Szp is very unlikely to enter the audience. Their tastes have evolved. But Aamir is perhaps too old to transform Himself at this point.
And, He did come out praising inception for its concept and across the gap in Indian cinema. However, that was 15 years back!
In recent times he seems to be living in his own shell. He keeps harpping about rootedness and stuff like ‘Local is globalMaybe it is Happening Simply because he can no longer keep up with the current trends, give his age.
Sustaining as a Thinking star-actor is a different ballgame compared to the Sillness that salman/srk brings to the table for their audience.
