Moneycontrol of Report According to, ZOMATO hired 1,500 employees for customer support under its ZOMATO ASSOCIATE ACECELERERATOR Program (ZAAP) a year ago. Under this program, employees were going to get a chance to go in a permanent role in sales, operation, program management, support, supply chain and category team within a year.
However, the contract of these temporary employees was no longer further extended. According to the report, ZAAP staff working in Gurugram and Hyderabad were asked to resign without any official announcement. The affected employees were not given any notice period other than a month’s salary. The company has explained poor performance and lack of time rearing.
A current customer support employee told Moneycontrol, “Most of the employees admitted last year under the ZAAP program were removed last week without any concrete reason. The atmosphere in Gurugram and Hyderabad offices has become tense.”
Employees say that their jobs were in danger due to Zomato’s AI-based support system. Earlier, in December 2022, ZOMATO also fired 100 employees, which was 4% of its total workforce. Then the trimming product, tech, catalog and marketing departments were done.
Now that Zomato is automatically automats, it will be interesting to see what strategy the company adopts in future for its employees.
